Day 359 ~ "Qi" & "Respect"

What I Learned About Me... from A to Z
What have I learned about myself this past year {blogging}..?  hmmmm... First off... I would like to make sure you know up front... I never had blogged before until I started this blog 349 days ago.  Secondly... I never intended on learning anything.  HAHA! LOL!  No but seriously... It wasn't my intention...   Check out what my intention(s) were/are here.
So here goes... What I Learned About Me... from A to Z

Ying Yang Bagua
"Q" is for...  Qi.  pronounced chee...  I {like I'm sure many of you ..wink, wink} have used Qi many times in Words with Friends ...

If you do not know what WWF is... it's an addictive app on I-Phone or Facebook... it similar to scrabble and you play against friends.  There may be other methods of playing this game that I don't know of.

I didn't know what Qi meant until I looked it up.. nor did I know that Qi and {chee} were one in the same.  hahaha...

Qi noun (che) or (chee);  the circulating life energy that in Chinese philosophy is thought to be inherent in all things; in traditional Chinese medicine the balance of negative and positive forms in the body is believed to be essential for good health.

I have come to learn this past year that my Qi is a- okay!

"R" is for...  Respect.  ... It's like I've said it before.... I thought about it long and hard... and I want to talk about respect. or the lack thereof.

I've seen children, adults, teens, tweens (what the heck is a tween anyways?)  ...  really?  when and who came up with this? {I looked it up... kids between 8 - 14}   [another day another subject...]

As I was saying... I have seen a lot of lack of respect out there in the world... lack of self-respect included.

Whatever happened to good ol' fashion respect?  One where a youngster gives his or her seat up for an elder?  Be it who it is.

or respect for your neighborhood, let alone your neighbor... or how about respect towards your spouse and your marriage, not to mention your children...

Of course I know that respect is sometimes expected to be earned... however more times than not I believe that you should at least start out with a blanket respect or rather beginners respect that not only can grow with time, but can also deminish at a drop of a hat with merit or lack thereof.

So why don't we give everything and everyone the benefit of the doubt and treat others as we would like to be treated... and then possibly mutual respect will develop.

Knowledge will give you power, but character respect.~Bruce Lee

If we lose love and self respect for each other, this is how we finally die.

Tomorrow...  What I Learned About Me... from A to Z ... the letter(s) "S"

[here's to you finding your... ]
Peace...

Day 316 ~ The Letter "Q" ...

I don't know about you, but when I would draw the letter "Q" in scrabble my mind would start to race.  Immediately my mind would draw a blank, except for the echoing of..  "Q" ...  "Q" ... As if repeating the letter over and over again in my mind would make a word pop up any faster.

Sure anyone could come up with queen or question.  Now-a-days with Word for Friends (a trendy game app for your I-phone or a game I play on FaceBook)  I have noticed that the popular "q" word being used is qi*(pronounced chi).  Fits just about anywhere, bonus it you place it on a triple-letter or triple-word score box!
Central to Taoist world-view and practice is qi (chi). Qi is life-force -- that which animates the forms of the world. It is the vibratory nature of phenomena -- the flow and tremoring that is happening continuously at molecular, atomic and sub-atomic levels. In Japan it is called “ki,” and in India, “prana” or “shakti.” The ancient Egyptians referred to it as “ka,” and the ancient Greeks as “pneuma.” For Native Americans it is the “Great Spirit” and for Christians, the “Holy Spirit.” In Africa it’s known as “ashe” and in Hawaii as “ha” or “mana.”
In China, the understanding of qi is inherent in the very language. For instance: The literal translation of the Chinese character meaning “health” is “original qi.” The literal translation of the character for “vitality” is “high quality qi.” The literal translation of the character meaning “friendly” is “peaceful qi."  Resource: About.com
Well I am here to tell you that there is more to the letter "Q" than queen, question or qi...
quit, quiz, quad, quack, quail, quart, queer, quest, queue, quiet, quill, quirk, quite, quota, quote, quaint, quaker, quarry, queasy, quiche, quince, quinoa, quirky, quiver, qwerty, qualify, quality, quaalude, quantity, quenched...
... to name a few.  Yes, there are many, many more too.

Of course I  have heard of all of these words... Then why is it when I see the letter "Q" I instantly feel like I am going to take a test or a pop quiz?   My heart starts to speed up, my hands get sweaty and my brain starts to scramble.

What does "Q" do for you?
I think it's a lame excuse for a lot of these rappers to say they only call girls bitches or hos because they act like that. It doesn't make them right.
~Queen Latifah
