Day 25 ~ Reading the Fine Print in The Stages of Life

One minute I am standing in my kitchen talking to my friend enjoying the end of a quick summer downpour... she mentions it's kind of warm out... I agree... and next thing before I knew it... as if someone literally opened a faucet... the sweat was just pouring off of me!  Absolutely CRAZY!

I have achieved yet another milestone in my life... a true, legitimate hot flash!  Out of nowhere!

Okay... no one prepared me for this!  This is absolutely N U T S!...  I did not sign up for this!

First, as girls, we have to experience a most uncomfortable and inconvenient menstruation- and what's worse is that this beast has a mind of its own.  At first just when you start getting the hang of it and you think you know when it's coming to town, and low and behold... it pulls the rug right out from under you and then has the audacity of showing up whenever it wants too!  Dances, weddings, special vacations... you name it!  No occasion is too fancy or special for our dear friend!

Then... what for moments is the most painful experience a person can undergo, yet we fondly look back on it as one of, if not the most wonderful experience we  have the privilege of living... giving birth to our children.  And, of course this is only the beginning of what we will live through for our children!

A woman giving birth to a child has pain because her time has come; but when her baby is born she forgets the anguish because of her joy that a child is born into the world.   John 16:21

Finally, if we have not gone through enough... it has been bestowed upon us women, to denounce not only to us. but EVERYONE that lives with us, that our flowers will no longer bloom (ovulation no more,)  in such a way that it affects EVERYONE you come in contact with (and I mean everyone!  Animals aren't even safe!)... menopause! Only after having gone through its evil partner, perimenopause!!   really?!

Frankly, as I try to be fair about this...  Do we as women have it bad?  ...  Or ...   Or is it the men, who have to deal with the Dr. Jekyll/Miss Hyde persona in these three stages of our lives?

At this point that's as tolerable as I am going to get... from my perspective, I really do not give a damn!  I am hot!! If you don't like it ... well, then may I suggest putting a sweater on? ...  And, don't you dare touch the thermostat!!

One is not born a woman, one becomes one.    ~Simone de Beauvoir, The Second Sex, 1949

Day 24 ~ "Writing" ... It's Good for the Soul

HEY!!  Who turned on the lights???!!!  WHAT it's been 24 days and I'm still going strong??!!  At the risk of sounding repetitive... I just can't find the words to tell you how great this has been making me feel.  Now... don't get me wrong, I still have a ways to go, but at least I feel as if I am on the right track.

As far as I am concerned blogging has been a great way to release myself.. to put myself in check... and to get rid of some ugliness that has been brewing within me for years!

Who is to say if whether I would have continued to write after Kevin had his day with me (see Day 2) if I would be feeling like this right now or not, although one thing IS for sure ~ I would have been doing it and putting my life on the line with him around!

As I look back... I think I really started writing around the 7th grade... I don't know if it was intended as a fad or not... OR ... if it was something that a young girl gets into at that age... but having a diary was what you did and what I did.  I can remember most of my friends having them.  You could find them in all sorts of sizes, colors and with a lock too! Then the trick was to have a GREAT hiding place so your sister could not get into it.

Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart.          Proverbs 3:3
What  I do know right now is that this is saving me ... from who?  you ask...  From me!  I think I have been self-destructing this entire time ... NOT ANYMORE!

Blessing to all!!

Day 23 ~ "words" ... Use Them Wisely

Once again, open mouth, insert foot!  Have you ever said something... and just as the words are coming out of your mouth- one by one, you are simultaneously cringing, and in  great disbelief of what you are actually saying?

Well NOT ME!  Ha!!... I wish I could say that!  Really... Lord knows that I have had my share of stupidity come out of my mouth!

What prompts this?  You ask?  ...  Well, let's just say that I said something stupid which as a result hurt someone who I love... I hurt their feelings.  [In order to protect the privacy of my family, I am going to keep details on the QT or on the down low]... you choose ... either way you look at it.. I was wrong, I said something stupid without thinking, I admit it, groveled and apologized.  Good thing I'm loved! ...  Just saying!

After having dodged that "bullet" (jk or just kidding for those of you who are chat slang challenged- CSC)  ....

I am taking a stroll down memory lane... remembering all the harsh, ugly and hurtful words that once were said to me by people who claimed to love me.  I am referring to the people in your life who were suppose to love you to no ends, take care of you and keep you from harm's way.~ My father and then my first husband (the father of my two sons.)  I went "out of the frying pan and into the fire!" literally!!

[NOT Dino... Are you kidding me!?  Dino would never say anything hurtful to me... ever!]

People who tell you that they love you should never, ever make you feel so low or worse yet, unloved or unwanted!

Your father should not belittle you... let alone do it in front of others.  As I am writing this I am thinking..."I do not want to drag my father through the mud by any means"... however... the lack of respect, lack of remorse shown for his actions and the years of humiliation... Well it changes you!

Being married to a man (first husband) who promised to love you forever (whatever that means!) and then he cheats on you (whilst you were pregnant,) lies to you and then takes your children and does everything possible to alienate them from you and also lies about you to them and lies to you about them~ all to keep a mother from her two boys just to be vengeful and spiteful!.. not to mention all the times he called me the most horrific names... He just took what little self-esteem and self-worth I had left and just SQUASHED IT!!... ... Well it changes you!

Bottom line...

Please think before you say anything.  Think twice.  I have always said.. "that the words that come out of your mouth can not be taken back... once said, that's it!  they will leave a mark!"

Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.             Luke 6:37
