Day 411 ~ #4 of My 30 Days of Truth...

My 30 Days of Truth challenge   I will admit that I changed one question and changed a few curse words... other than that the challenge is intact.

Day 4 : Something you have to forgive someone for.

Boy ... I sure have beat this one to death.. that's for sure!  I have been thinking about who I should forgive what for all day!

This question really has weighed heavy on my heart more than any other question to date...

After all...  who says "who" deserves forgiveness more than "whom"?  Just as I have said time and time again I am not God... I do not have the right to judge someone else.. after all I am not perfect myself.

I love the quote "those who live in glass houses should not throw stones"... so fitting of this question, don't you think?  wink, wink.

Soooo... Who do I forgive?  ...  After much thought and consideration... I forgive everyone.

Yes... you read right... I forgive everyone.

Doesn't matter who you are... what was done... what was said... what boundaries crossed... feelings hurt... stones thrown... conclusions jumped... and all other unknown entities caused...

I forgive one and all.

HA!

How releasing!  ...  How rejuvenating!  ...  What an unbelievable feeling!! ...  What a feeling of freedom!
For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.  ~ Matthew 6:14 (NIV)
I would like to add in closing that I always choose my quote for each my posts after I have finished writing.  I find it really awesome that I found this particular bible verse.  What is awesome about it is that I decided to forgive everyone without knowing what the benefits of "forgiving" would bring me.  How fitting.

July 24th, 2012... an after thought...
I am speaking of forgiveness above.  Forgiving others to be exact.  I spoke quite generously about... point blank... forgiving all who had done me wrong.

I would like to make this perfectly clear.  I am not doing this for "them"... I am doing this for me.  More so because I am tired of walking around having all this negativity within my soul.  I am doing this to free myself from all the wrong in the world.

I hope to be able to free myself from the "baggage" that has dragged me down... the events that took the sparkle out of my eyes and also took the soul out of my laughter.

July 27th, 2012 ... more thoughts on forgiveness..
Since writing the above I have been confronted with my words.  I have been put in situations that have made me think of forgiveness, or the lack there of.

It is not easy to forgive.  When a thought entered my mind, which then in turn has made me think of this post... well... bottom line... if I can not forgive others, how do I expect to be forgiven for my own sins?

That final though alone makes me work harder to forgive others.  After all what do I keep telling myself?  It's in the past and I can not do anything about.  If I do not put it behind me, it will affect my future.

what's next? ...

I am sure that there are a lot of people I need to forgive . . . well maybe just a few. And I have but then they exhibit the same behaviors and on and on. So I am totally willing to forgive I just might wait awhile ; )

It was a blanket statement to make, but it could serve us all well to do the same! Love it, love it, love it!!

It is the only way to live! When we don't forgive bitterness can grow in us. Forgiving is different from dismissing the act, some one can steal and still be forgiven and go to jail. Jail is a consequence of the action. Sometimes people think forgiving is letting someone of the hook totally no consequences but those are too totally different things. Love your post.

I don't think I honestly forgive people for really poor behavior. I don't let it get to me, but deep down, if you gave me truth serum, I would say they are not forgiven. Oh the truth hurts, doesn't it!;)

I guess I'm not as nice as you, I tend to hold grudges even when I know I need to forgive.

It is so hard to continue the forgiveness. The initial feeling is usually awesome. Then life happens. I give it all over to God then find myself yanking it back time and time again. Forgiveness is definitely a choice and is definitely for the forgiver - not for the forgiven. When I struggle with forgiveness, it helps me to remember all God has forgiven ME for.

Sooooo much of the time we are quick to say we forgive someone, but we have a knack for not forgetting! The enemy likes to use these memories to bring resentment and bitterness into our hearts and minds. As difficult as it is, I must learn to forget or else I never really forgive.

Blessings,
Marcia

Its' definitely true when they say that forgiveness if not for THEM...forgiveness is for yourself. Great post!

One person comes to mind when I'm faced with the challenge of forgiving others: my mother. It is extremely difficult, but feasible. True, we can't move forward in life and enjoy whatever joy is in store for us if we don't forgive the ones who have hurt us. I can imagine how liberating that would feel... Now, if only I can bring myself to finally do it. God help me...

Lack of forgiveness doesn't just affect us, it affects others.

I have to forgive someone who should be very close to me for something very serious. It weighs on my shoulders to forgive her. But I haven't, and it doesn't just affect me. Others who should be close to the person I'm speaking of, are not anymore because I am not. And that's something I cannot take back. It's really hard to take that step when you're scared to be hurt, or have been hurt so badly you don't want to try again.

Your post is a good reminder that regardless of the effort it takes...preventing future hurt that is unnecessary could be as easy as forgiving.
