Day 320 ~ "T" ... T ... Time...

"T" is for Time... TIME...
noun... the measured or measurable period during which an action, process, or condition exists or continues : duration
verb... to arrange or set the time of : schedule
adjective... of or relating to time

The first thing that comes to my mind relating to time is being late.  I am horrified about being late, or rather being on time.

My very first memories where time itself was an issue, was that of my father complaining of how my mother was always late to everything.

Now... when "time" became a sensitive issue to me was when I was in grade school.  Third grade or so.  My brother, sister and I lived in Santa Monica with our mother, across the street from my elementary school.  I was late everyday!

Yes.  I was late every day.  Every day I was horrified to walk into class.  Every day I was teased and ridiculed because of it...

I share this with you all very matter of fact.  It doesn't bother me anymore.  That was then.  Now is now.

As long as I can remember... I have always given myself plenty of time to be on time.

Furthermore...

I firmly believe that when an appointment is made... when YOU have made an appointment... from the moment that time is set... from the moment that block of time has been set aside especially for you...the least you can do is be on time in appreciation for said action.

... this person whom you are meeting with has taken the time to set a block of time aside especially for you...

With that said... when "a person" is late, "they" are more or less telling the person with whom 'they" have set an appointment with that they do not matter.

Obviously, you need something from this person (or company they represent) otherwise why meet?

I know that everyone has their own opinion...

Me... my goal is to be on time, every time.  This is their first impression of our meeting together, and it should be a positive one.  What I need out of our encounter matters to me.

By being on time, think of it as a nice way of saying thank you for their time and what they say matters to you.

On another note... time can have a bad rap by either moving too slow or not fast enough.  Time has had a reputation for creeping up on a person.  You can even say that at times there's not enough of time, and then on the other hand there are others who just can not wait for time to just pass.

Time is good to some, while leaving others at its mercy.

Time brings all things to pass.

As soon as my twins were born, I made it a point to always be on time. I refused to allow the fact that I was a mother of twins to be an excuse for being late. Of course, now I realize it was much easier when they were babies and couldn't move. Now, it always seems as we are running out the door, one of them has to pee, regardless of whether we JUST went 5 minutes ago. I try though, try my hardest. Excellent post, my dear :)

I could not agree with you more!! I usually end up giving myself too much time and then I'm annoyed that I'm so early!! But hey, better than being late! :)

Carla after being married to my husband for almost 15 years, I have come to the conclusion that he just can't help it. He's either super late or rushing in the parking lot of somewhere a ten minutes past. It irks me most when trying to get to church - but I just keep my cool. It's one of those "pick your battles" and I long gave up that fight. I always tell people to give me the real time and give him a fake 30 min window. He was on time for our wedding and we do manage to see the beginning of a movie though we always have to find out seats in the dark ;-)
